ITV News showcases Leicester Hospitals new Life-changing internship for young adults with a learning disability
ITV News Central has highlighted a life-changing transition to employment programme, led by DFN Project SEARCH, is recruiting local young adults with a learning disability for its 2022-2023 intake at the Leicester Hospitals.
Ellesmere College, UHL, DWP, Connexions, DFN Project SEARCH and the Leicester City Council have collaborated in Leicester to give young adults with a learning disability in the area vital work-based learning opportunities and to help them to secure meaningful employment.
The DFN Project SEARCH programme has eight intern places available for young adults from Leicester, aged between 18 to 19. The pioneering programme involves total workplace immersion at its very best, facilitating a seamless combination of classroom instruction, career exploration, and hands-on skills training in a variety of roles at the Leicester hospitals.
This local programme comes after DFN Project SEARCH recently launched a new employability campaign #InclusionRevolution, which aims to support 10,000 young adults aged between 18 – 25 with a learning disability or autism into paid employment by 2030.
